ServicesRoof Replacement
Roof Replacement in Lexington, OK
A new roof lasts only as long as the parts you never see: the deck, the underlayment, the flashing and where each nail lands. We tear off to bare wood, fix what is underneath and build your home a roof that holds up for decades.

When Replacement Is the Right Call
Replacement makes sense when the problem is the whole roof, not one spot. Shingles that have lost most of their granules, mats that have gone brittle, or hail bruising spread across every slope cannot be fixed one tab at a time. When the trouble sits in a handful of shingles or a single leaking pipe boot, roof repair solves it for less money, and that is what we will recommend.
Most shingle failures we see trace back to installation, not the shingle itself. Nails driven high above the nail strip, reused pipe boots and step flashing that was never woven into the courses all let water and wind in early. Our replacements focus on getting those small details right so the roof reaches its full service life.
What Every Replacement Includes
Tear-off to the deck
We remove every layer down to the sheathing. Laying new shingles over old ones hides deck damage and traps heat, which shortens the life of both layers.
Deck inspection and repair
With the deck exposed, we walk it for soft spots, delaminated plywood and rotted plank edges. Bad sections are cut out and replaced before anything goes on top.
Underlayment and leak barrier
Self-adhered leak barrier goes in the valleys, along eaves and around chimneys and vents, where water collects and wind drives rain sideways. Synthetic underlayment covers the rest of the field.
New flashing, not reused
We install new drip edge, step flashing at each sidewall course, counterflashing at masonry and new pipe boots. Old metal that has been bent and nailed once does not seal the same way twice.
Correct nailing in the strip
Each shingle is fastened in the manufacturer's nail zone with the high-wind pattern, nails driven flush rather than overdriven. Starter strip at the eaves and rakes keeps the first course from lifting.
Balanced ventilation
We measure how much air the soffit vents pull in and how much the ridge lets out, then add or adjust vents until the two are in proportion. An attic that holds heat cooks shingles from the underside and can void the manufacturer's coverage.
Signs Your Roof Needs Replacing
Heavy granule loss
Bald patches on the shingles or piles of grit at the downspout outlets mean the asphalt is exposed to UV and aging fast.
Curling and cupping
Edges that turn up or centers that sink show the mat is drying out. Curled tabs catch wind and tear off in the next strong gust.
Hail bruising on every slope
Soft, dark dents that expose the mat weaken the shingle across the whole roof. After an Oklahoma hailstorm, widespread bruising usually points to replacement rather than patching.
Leaks in more than one place
When stains show up in different rooms or keep returning after repairs, the underlayment and flashing are often failing roof-wide.
A sagging or spongy deck
A dip in the roofline or a soft feel underfoot means water has reached the sheathing. That needs replacement before the framing is affected.
How the Job Runs
- 1
Roof and attic walk-through
We check the shingles, flashing and vents from the roof, then go into the attic to look for daylight at the boards, water stains and poor airflow. Photos of everything we found come with your estimate.
- 2
Itemized written estimate
Materials, per-sheet deck repair pricing, flashing and ventilation work each get their own line. If your city or county requires a building permit for the job, we file for it before work begins.
- 3
Stripping and covering the deck
Landscaping gets covered and siding and windows get shielded before the first shingle comes off. The crew removes only the section it can wrap in underlayment by evening, so your home is never left open to the weather overnight.
- 4
Installation
Drip edge, leak barrier, starter, shingles, flashing and ridge vent go on in order. We check nail placement as each course goes down, not after the fact.
- 5
Cleanup and final walk
A magnetic sweep runs across the lawn, driveway and beds for loose nails. We walk the finished roof with you and point out the details that matter.
What Moves the Price
We price each roof from its own measurements and from what the inspection turns up. Your written estimate separates every item so you can see where the money goes. Deck repair carries a per-sheet price, so replacing rotted wood never becomes an open-ended number.
- Size and pitch
- The number of squares sets how much material we order. Steep slopes call for roof jacks and harnesses and slow the crew down, which adds labor.
- Old layers underneath
- Each extra layer of old shingles buried below the top one adds hours of stripping and more weight in the dumpster.
- Deck condition
- Rotted or delaminated sheathing has to come out and be replaced. The exact amount is only known once the old roof is off.
- Shingle line and details
- Architectural or impact-rated shingles, chimney counterflashing, skylights and added ridge vent all change the total.
Roof Replacement Questions

How long does a replacement take?
Most homes are finished in one to two days of work. Steep roofs, multiple layers or a lot of deck repair can add a day. Rain may delay the start, but it will not catch your roof half open, because we only strip what we can cover with underlayment that same day.
Is a layover cheaper than tearing off my old shingles?
It can cost less up front, but we advise against it. A second layer covers up soft decking, leaves worn flashing in service and holds heat between the two layers, which ages both faster. A full tear-off is the only way to see the deck and repair it.
Will hail damage be covered by insurance?
Often it is, depending on your policy. We document the damage with photos and can meet the adjuster on the roof, but the adjuster decides coverage. Our storm damage repair page explains that process in more detail.
Should I plan to stay home while you work?
You do not need to be there all day. It helps if you can join us for a quick look at the roof on the first morning and a final walkthrough when we finish. Inside, it will be loud, so take down pictures and clear attic shelves, since the hammering can rattle things off.
Are you licensed to replace my roof?
Yes. We hold an Oklahoma residential roofing license and an Oklahoma general contractor license, which covers deck and structural repairs found during tear-off. For businesses, our Oklahoma commercial roofing license backs our commercial roof replacement work.
